Titanium Diboride Powder
Titanium diboride is a kind of boride powder with gray or gray black appearance. The chemical formula is TiB2. The melting point is 2980 ℃. Titanium diboride has high hardness. The oxidation resistance temperature of TiB2 in air can reach 1000 ℃, and it is stable in HCl and HF acid.
Titanium diboride is the most stable compound formed by boron and titanium, which combines in its valence bond form and belongs to the hexagonal crystal system of quasi metallic compounds. The alternating appearance of boron and titanium atomic planes in the crystal structure forms a two-dimensional network structure, in which B is covalently bonded with three other B atoms, and the excess electron forms a large π bond. The layered structure of boron atoms similar to graphite and the outer electrons of Ti determine the good conductivity and metallic luster of TiB2, while the Ti-B bond between the boron and titanium atomic planes determines the high hardness and brittleness of this material. In terms of chemical stability, TiB2 is more stable when in contact with pure iron than tungsten carbide or silicon nitride, and is less susceptible to corrosion by molten metal. TiB2 is resistant to oxidation, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid in air at temperatures up to 1100 ℃, but reacts with alkali, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid.
Titanium Diboride Powder Application
Titanium diboride powder produced by FUSHEL has high purity, high natural packing density and narrow particle size distribution. It is suitable for the following occasions:
1. Used for ceramic composite materials;
2. For conductive ceramic materials;
3. The main materials used for conductive evaporation of vacuum coating;
4. For plasma spraying conductive coating, or corrosion resistant coating;
5. Titanium diboride can be used for composite ceramic materials. It can be used as an important component of multi-component composite materials, combined with TiC, TiN, SiC and other materials to form composite materials, which are used to make various high-temperature resistant components and functional components, such as high-temperature
crucibles, engine components, etc. It is also one of the best materials for making armor protection materials;
6. Can be made into PTC heating ceramic materials and flexible PTC materials. It has the characteristics of safety, power saving, reliability, and easy processing and shaping, and is a high-tech product that updates and replaces various types of electric heating materials;
7. Can be used to make ceramic cutting tools and molds. It can be used to manufacture precision machining tools, drawing dies, extrusion dies, sandblasting nozzles, sealing components, etc.
